Representives from more than 30 countries have met in Geneva in an attempt to conclude talks that began seven years ago. The Doha round of talks, as they are known, are aimed at reducing trade barriers and aiding developing countries to promote free trade. The main sticking points surround the demand by developing nations for the richer ones to receive lower agricultural subsidies while industrialised nations are asking for countries with emerging markets to reduce import duties. Inside Story asks if the Doha round can be saved.

The fact that the US Dollar is now being considered as NOT TO BE THE STANDARD TRADING CURRENCY is a huge matter to watch.

The bit they started getting to at the end has a lot to do with the answer of the host's (I can never spell/pronounce his name) first question. Obviously it's not really about this one deal. It's not that they're going to fuddle some numbers and regulations and change the world economy much forever. It's about submission and resistance, control and self-determination. The point is whether or not Western countries can so easily organize newly industrializing economies how they'd like.

kaiser is dead on. Free trade is about ruining middle classes and destroying economies to produce slaves. Its been a globalist tool for centuries. It was a prime issue in the US civil war, and there are many more examples thru history. Every1 should be as harsh as kaiser about it. FREETRADE=ENSLAVEMENT for all mankind to corporations.

am shocked to see this inconsequential discussion here on how someone must have presented his thoughts...and I second mengwise36..people!! value the content not the frills & bells

well i would like to convince as many people as possible and the manner of presentation goes a long way in convincing and bringing them around to your(OUR) point of view, does it not ?my only problem with him is that he is in an influential position and able to reach out to so many millions out there ... and that he would be more effective if he changed the manner of his presentation a bit !

If someone will not agree with him just because the manner in which he delivered his message, do you really care if that someone is on your side or not?
nissanguy123 (July 22, 2008 at 4:11 pm)
BTW ... rant :(V) To speak or write in an angry manner ; (V) To utter or express with violence or extravagance !!i DO agree with what he says ... every word of it! but I do wish he had the good sense to tone it down a bit ... it might just convince more people !!
mengwise36 (July 22, 2008 at 4:01 pm)
If you brush him aside as ranting, it is your problem. Other people might call him "brutally honest". If you agree with the man, agree with the man. If you do not, don't.
