In case anyone cares, I was at the show at the Asbury Park Convention Center concert when Because the Night was played for the first time--'78. It was at a Patti Smith concert/tour kick off and the opening act was the Ramones. Everyone hoped Springsteen would show and he did and they sang Because the Night together announcing that they co-wrote the song, they were huge fans of one another and still are.

I'm going by published information from sources that WERE there, and jeezus, use your own ears, she absolutely could NOT have written this song, anyway I no longer give a rats a** if you, or anyone else, thinks I'm making this up. If you want to ride on the Patti Smith fantasy train feel free to believe any bullshit you want. Adios.
