they aren't similar at all. You probably aren't even a competative swimmer or you'd never make a comment like that. In swimming there are so many things that you need to focus on that it is nearly impossible to be good at it all. In something like the IM you have to be able to balance all of that, its not just physical skill its mental strength as well to be able to know your limits and to alot so much energy to each length of the event. And as for all those saying he's doped-they test for that

They aren't similar. Phelps is unique. Swimming is usually made up of specialists; a gold medal breaststroker is not a gold medal freestyle sprinter. The sprinter who excells in the 50 rarely wins a 200. That said, you don't see Phelps entering the 50 free or the breaststroke events. But I bet he will when he feels its time to conquer new worlds. He young enough to totally reinvent himself for the next olympics.

hmmm... the same persons win the same events.this proves that similar events in a multi event sport should be removed.
