all you folks that are defending smoking are really ignorant. SMOKING IS BAD PERIOD! News Flash! it may not be the immediate cause of death but it causes things in the body to not go as they should naturally. thats physiology people! go to college(first step) research(second step) start studying(third step) then come really talk about this stuff and think out side the box hippie

Steve McQueen's lung cancer wasn't related much to his smoking, he died of heart attack of blood clots formed during an unconventional op for a metastatic cancer in his stomach. Smoking didn't help him one bit for his health, but what did seal the deal with fate and lung cancer was his exposure to asbestos. As is stated in the records, when he used to race he would cover his mouth with a cloth drenched in asbestos. If you expose yourself to asbestos, it's almost given that you get lung cancer.

mcqueen died of mesothelioma, which has no connection to smoking.

...normally associated with cigarettes rather than cigars or pipes= bad. If you have a techique of smoking cigarettes occasionly you have nothing to worry about though I think. My point made, I'm gonna stop cus my fingers are aching! LOL

I think cigarettes are okay smoking OCCASIONLY i say this as my Great Auntie chained off Cigarettes and had a heart attack in her 40s, yes, this was along time ago so there was no confermation smoking caused it but I should think it was likly. Whereas... my Grampy who is in his 70s and perfectly healty has his Cigar about twice a month. I think, not just with smoking, but drinking and unhealthy food, if used in moderation it's normally ok but excessive use, which is ...

I loved Steve McQueen. There is really no doubt that it was asbestos that killed him. He wore an asbestos suit for years when he raced cars, was exposed to it when he was in the Navy, and according to his wife, used to dip a rag in liquid asbestos and put it over his mouth and nose when he would race to protect his face and throat. Most people that are exposed to asbestos just half as much as he was end up getting cancer from it.

well i'm glad you got the ref to Adolf smoking, glad to hear he was a non smoker (NOT) ;) My mother smoked since she was 13 she is in her seventies now, a few years back she underwent surgery for a lung removal, she still smokes to this day so i too have been around the outcome of someone CHOOSING to smoke....whilst she was in hospital we had to run the guantlet of patients standing outside the hospital in long lines puffing away to thier hearts content....crazy. So yeah we all have a choice.

For what it's worth: Hitler was a non-smoker, and an adamant hater of smoking. (I got the reference to being turned to smoke... I', not stupid.) Whether someone smokes or doesn't smoke is impacted by a lot of visual cues, and this is certainly among many we got as kids. That said, I never smoked. Not cigarettes... cigars, you bet.My father is undergoing his second round of chemo for lung cancer, so I've been around the outcome. I'm in no way defending smoking. Roy |
