no. its not even that specific, stop thinking of Jesus. As a Sufi Muslim, I testify Jesus was a wonder of a man, and I praise him for his sacrifice. But thorns are about the wickedness of our ways, chaining us, the way thorns pierce our skin. We, as Sufis think very abstractly, mythically, loving and humming with all.:o)

I know who Rumi is and I know these poems are about the divine love of Allah. I was just curious as to whether the phrase "I too have been covered with thorns" was an oblique reference to Jesus?
