Well done sunbeam, music is all about communication. All our favourite music touches us not because of technical ability but because we are moved, excited, stirred, challenged or uplifted. this is to do with heart, soul, love and feeling not how well people play. Beck moves me but Clapton does not. Gabriel speaks to me but Collins does not. Nick Cave uplifts me but John Mayer does not. Nowt to do with ability all to do wih that inner dimension that some have explored and others are ignorant of.

We are all critics surely? Every time you choose to skip a certain track on an album you are exercising your critical judgement. Quantity of output is no guide to quality of work and I cannot see his influence anywhere but in the small world of jazzrockfusion.

And his use of the e-bow on Ripples and In that Quiet Earth. He's one very few guitarists I know that can improvise with an e-bow.
