Three reasons for no roof:a) buoyancy: Adding a roof would also mean adding 2 tons of ballast, which would make the car on land move like a turtle.b) Safety: At a depth of 10 meters, the water pressure would keep the door shut with a force of ~4000 kg. Impossible to open in an emergency.c) Pressure: Water pressure at 10 meter is ~10tons/sq.meter. Instead of the typical 0,7mm sheet metal used for cars the cabin they'd use 1,5 - 2mm at least, which would make the car very heavy again. |
