The musical history and knowledge that is in Youtube is just amazing. I keep watching videos everyday, it is great to have the opportunity to watch so many cool videos. And this video is awesome, the band rocks, especially Jeff, so much energy!

Makes me miss Jeff Porcaro so much. TheDDG is right - no other drummer could convey so much in a song by playing so little. The man knew exactly where to place his notes/beats to provide the best feel for a tune. Nobody has come close since his death.

Is that Jeff Baxter at the very beginning in the studio?

yeah, too bad there isnt cool """"LIVE"""" bands like this anymore.... oh well, at least we have our precious technology to keep us forever retarded.

Jeff and Steve are just babies, yet look at them GO! that poor guy in the tux trying to keep up on acoustic piano. Boz flubbing the lyrics EVERY TIME! well, it was New Years' Eve. "Silk Degrees" has been a cornerstone of my life since '76 (i was 12, and had just started drumming) and i find that its influence has not waned in the last 32 (!!!!) years. i miss Jeff, tho. a lot.

I'm 34 and felt it as a little kid at 5 even though I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. This shit is tighter then a pimp.

The absolute peak of this tune is when the backup singers are shown doing a little hip thrust on beat 4 at 3:04. (yeah sorry -- a little obsessed with this vid)

I meant THE ERA, not the music. You can enjoy still enjoy the music, but it was different to have grown up when it was new. |
