In my mind, there are no Ozzy tunes from the post-Randy era that stand up to the Randy era stuff. Jake E Lee did a good job on guitar, but the lyrics got kind of silly and lame, I think. The real tragedy is that the world never got to hear that third Ozzy record with Randy, because it never got made. I'll bet the tunes were starting to develop in Randy's head, though. What a shame.

Night Ranger were young, hungry, and probably very focused and serious, so who can blame Brad for wanting to work with them? It isn't really fair to say Brad cared about groupies more than music. Night Ranger had some good tunes—it's pop stuff, not for everyone, but I like some of it—and Brad and Jeff Watson did some pretty cool two guitar stuff. Ozzy, on the other hand, got kind of lame after Randy was gone.

But can you blame the guy (Brad G) for wanting to make it with his own band? He'd been working hard with Night Ranger for a long time, saw a good opportunity for exposure with the Ozzy gig, then returned to Night Ranger and had a good run with them. Keep in mind that Randy was planning to leave Ozzy's band, so maybe the Ozzy gig wasn't such a great gig after all. Ozzy was apparently trashed all the time, for one thing.
