They are very tough vehicles, I honestly cannot believe the punishment mine takes and keeps on going even with the small diesel. I have been airborne, smacked a tree, sideways down a 100% grade hill for about 300metres (slideing in mud) I use it to pull out small trees, pulled a fully laden landcruiser back onto the road from the side - worth ever dollar and considering, quite cheap to run.

Love the Patrols! We can import them into the US now, if they're 20+ years old though. I'd love to have a diesel version.

lol yeh I spose, but i would love to see an F850 do it, even if they are useless offroaders, there is more ford f trucks, explorers on the side of the road that have burst into flames in Australia than all other off roaders put together, along with Pajeros (mitsubishi) land rover discoveries, hummers, and Lada Nivas. I own a Nissan Patrol, economical toughness.

Funny how all Fords have a snatch strap. 95% of all Ford trucks are still on the road. The other 5% actually made it home!

In these situations its better to have an F850 with a 20 ton snatch strap pulling the xterra behind, make sure the 'driver' in the xterra is the owner, then take that F850 up to 80mph, show that xterra who is boss.

For those considering buying a new vehicle, don't forget to check out the new 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Great for adventures off road, just for cruising around town, or running to the store.

The new 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser seats five and comes in two-tone with a Voodoo Blue, Titanium Metallic, Black Diamond, Sun Fusion, Sandstorm or Brick body color and White top. The interior fabric color is Dark Charcoal, while the dash, center instrument panel trim and the door inserts match the body.
