a future of possibility Lama Foundation, located in the Mountains of New Mexico is host to Grow Here Now and Build Here Now. Annual workshops which bring together teachers as well as students of sustainability. Join us as we examine "what is permaculture" as we attend the Grow Here Now - Convergence at Lama. Permaculture is a word originally coined by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the mid 1970's to describe an "integrated, evolving system of perennial or self-perpetuating plant and animal species useful to man" 'Consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for provision of local needs. People, their buildings and the ways in which they organize themselves are central to permaculture. Thus the permaculture vision of permanent or sustainable agriculture has evolved to one of permanent or sustainable culture.

yeah, permaculture is great! holding hands in a circle and singing is not, it's crap.

Not all permaculturists are hippies. I'm more of a primitive survivalist-type, and I practice permaculture because natural systems are long-term, while stockpiles of guns, ammo, and canned goods are short-term. You might need those stockpiles to get yourself and your people through the impending crisis, but in the long run, you'll need a productive land base. In spite of my youtube "handle", too much of that hippie shit makes me cringe, too. But don't let it scare you away from permaculture.

ugh but why do they have to talk like that?! Why can't they just use normal words in normal ways and say words that "have relationships" with each other?! Hippies ruin everything.
jwallbanger (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
you're dreaming hippie!! human nature is grab all you can as fast as you can and screw the other guy. you can't change that.and unless you grew up tending yaks in mongolia your very existence was made possible by the industrial revolution, you know, that environment destroying, polluting thing you think you are somehow not a part of. tell me, how are you recycling the crap coming out your exhaust pipe?

I'm not a strip mall spawn. I don't "post" my idiotic thoughts. I "post" my ideas or thoughts that may help or inspire. I REPLIED to your ignorant post. I don't think or feel that I'm "above" others. I just want everyone to have a fair and equitable life. Apparently by your projections you've shown your true motives. PS, it has nothing to do with being "PC"...It's about sustainable/renewable, and not wasteful.
jwallbanger (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
and i suppose you believe the strip mall didn't spawn you? you certainly aren't posting your idiotic thoughts with the use of an environment-polluting computer are you? you're sending them via hippie telepathy right? stop thinking you're above others, you burn gasoline and depend on industrialization as much as everyone else does. your pc fantasies can't change that.
impalapez (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Go back to the strip mall that spawned you andchoke on a cheeseburger

For an approach that is similar, but may have less political bent, do some googling on the Fukuoka method.

Check out "Geoff Lawton" for a more feet on the ground approach!

which is more likely to be the issue here: that my mind is closed or that yours and AmityHorror's are full of THC and Psylocibin?Your peace, love, dope thing is stupid, hypocritical, and critically skewered by people who's heads stay in reality. I just think of all you narcissistic "free thinkers" burning millions of gallons of gas to get to burning man, etc. sleeping in tents manufactured in china and then telling yourselves you're changing the world, for $100-200 a ticket of course.
