Really? I just felt that there was so much more going on in the second half. The first half just felt like Old South nostalgia. It didn't do nearly as good of a job setting up the characters as the novel did.

Agreed on best endings ever, but I think the first half is way better than the second: The war, the burning of Atlanta, the escape, "As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again!" The second half just feels too long imho.

The book and film were both AMAZINGGGG... i felt soooo sad for scarlett at the end though.. poor thing, but i also loved Rhett to bits and didnt think he was a bad man :P Sad film but EXCELLENTTTT!

I KNOW IT ABSOLOUTLEY RUINED THE MAGNIFICENCE OF GONE WITH THE WIND. nothin can compare to gone with the wind the crap book 'scarlett' was no way up to its standard. Ofcourse margaret mitchel wrote gone with the wind.. and someone tried to continue her talent but didnt quite get there lol

There was a terrible sequel to GWTW called "Scarlett". It's an awful book and the characters sound nothing like the ones in the original book. It sold because GWTW has always been popular. But this is how the story really ends. I don't think Scarlett could ever get Rhett back. He was done with her and he meant what he said.
