That just makes the parents part of the abuse. I'm not saying it's commonplace just that sometimes it can be taken too far - I just read some horror stories in an article recently.It was an OC register article from 2004titled 'Gymnasts in pain: Out of balance' if you're interested in reading it.

Its realy so like in this viedeo!I was in rg since iam 3 but now i know its wrong... iam destroyed .. my knies...my arms..its all destroyed. I dance ballett, now and its better than rg! It can be hard but my training is ok! Like the rg!!!!!!

I was in male gymnasts for ten years until the age of 16, now i am 19, and it was hard work every day but if you wanted to be better you had to push yourself, yes you felt pain but you feel pain in almost every sport, it is just like any other sport only more work and dedication, Also in gymnasts there is only one stage you want to go on and that is a Olympic floor, so you have to train like a world class Athlete

not child abuse no...because you/your parents sign a contract agreeing to the training methods.

The part where the little girl was crying as someone kept pushing her leg further back was awful. It's pretty amazing what gymnastics do but I've heard that what top gymnasts are sometimes put through in training is like child abuse.
