Maybe you don't understand that people understood that this is FICTION. Tom Jones didn't present himself as a "gangsta" thug who went around stabbing and killing people.This song is no more suggestive of actual violence than any performance at the Metropolitan Opera.

lol, I'm pretty sure the 50's and 60's were just as dangerous, if not more so. Thalidomide, anyone? How about getting your neighborhood sprayed every summer with DDT? And yes, as someone else pointed out, The Cold War and all that. Maybe the 60's had all the drug fun, but my (our) parents paid the consequences with addictions. Just saying.But Tom Jones was and is fawesome!

Give me a break! The cold war was at its peak and everyone feared nuclear bombs going off. Does that really sound like fun to you? Just be content living now. These are the wild days your grand kids will wish they lived in. The grass is always greener in another decade. And yes, this song is cool.
