I mean even Hetfield can keep up with lars - with what is sposed to be a "solo" showcasing a drummers best! I'm a drummer - I'm not saying I'm better than Lars but there are few Metallica songs that I struggle with.

Its no secret Lars is not the best drummer in the world. In fact he's quite average. But still - he does the job.

It's not about selling albums it's about drumming,and Lars is very poor drummer. He remained on a "boy drumming" level and didn't develop himself into even average drummer. It would be wiser for him not to play any drum solo and persist as "escort" in Metallica's playing,which is definitely his role(or roll? :))) ). SAD BUT TRUE!!!

The difference between Lars Ulrich and the likes of the drummers you listed is they are drummers featuring their music, and Lars is METALLICA featuring Lars Ulrich! That and Lars sells PLATINUM records!!!!
