I really look up to her, she's an amazing person, so talented and true. My favorite track of the album is "Before the world was made", the song is just perfect.

I wanna be an over-paid, over-sexed, former model, come-French first lady, come Italian heiress. What else would one do but write music over poems all day long. I want to be Carla Bruni. I want to say frivolous things like lust only lasts three weeks.

I guess that overall, the real problem is that there is no real culture anymore. When you start evaluation everything on the same level, you obviously lose something. A ballet and a football game can't be evaluated the same... just like Van Gohg and Carla Bruni... or Beethoven and Britney Spears! That is the real problem, I think. Even if you can prefer pop music to classical music, you cannot say that Beethoven wasn't a genius, right? So in such a situation, it's hard to create something real..

But it's perfectly fine. It's perfectly right. That is what everyone should do. Follow their inspiration and not try to create something easy, fast.. that is just gonna entertain. And I thought she might have done that. I mean, she doesn't dance half-naked in her videos.. and her music is not really commercial, you know? But I mean, you're right, there is a difference between her and Van Gogh.

You know what, I understand what you mean. People are easily influenced by appearances, by the outside of things. And that is basically wrong. When we like something we make a choice. So if you like a specific signer, I think it means you agree not only with their ''art'' but also with what they represent. It makes sense. Superficiality does dominate the world. This is a real problem and the artists that wanna take a stand against that risk to never make a lot of money, you know?

....and good luck with your art. I like art very much. Send me a picture, if you like, please, I would really appreciate it.Thanks.

The other thing i wopuld like to say is that: of course she is, as anybody else, free to do what she wants, but what she does, does easily influence many people. I'm talking especially of people who judge a singer for how s/he looks like. Those people who like certain music because of the look of the singer have a shallow consideration of music, and today this superficiality dominates the world; that is my argument, if you see what I mean. We are like slaves of appearances, and this is not good.

Agree completely with you. Everybody should be able to create art, as you do. The thing is that whatever "beautiful" art you do, you will never be in the position of doing what she has done. Correct? She has done it, because it is easy for her? Normally the artist who has something to say, and that comes from the deep of her/his soul, is somebody like Van Ghog; one who struggled to survive and was sincere to his art. If making art is too easy, then it could be shallow. Hope you see what I mean.

last thing, art is life. beauty doesn't need anything else. it just needs to be. creation is life and as nietzsche said, if we could transform all the passions in art, we would grow stronger. anyway i don't think her art is for you to understand or judge the way you do. cuz whatever what she does, where she's from and how she does it... she creates something and that's the only thing we will ever know. then again, i'm not really defending her. you just can deny someone's right to create art. |
