it just looks like he turned from a headwind to a tailwind. and the resulting tailwind mixed with the difficulty in height estimation over water led to this control flight in to terrain. being heavy with passengers and possibly fuel also it would take a rather large amount of collective to arrest his decent rate without mushing through after the pitch-back turn. but i dont know the story i just know heli's. thats just my opinion! safe flying to everyone!
