yeah the lady at the end is not bad looking but surely has no idea. wrong character there. and whats the point of the whole idea of Malinowskis diary. at the beginning of the program it was mentioned as if it would be the central idea of the program, which was not. seemed to me like just trying to make a scandal where there isnt one. I dont see any serious questioning of Malinowskis reputation with what they mention from the diary. I dont buy that. 3 minutes to talk about the discovered diary?

Typical BBC ... scandal ... We don't know the contest of what he was prosing to say in his diary...at moments of rage his lower consciousness temporarily seized his better nature .... writing this in his diary was like a confession for his need of forgiveness....hmmmNahhhh, lets just kick dirt on him..Bravo BBC, your the KingOtherwise a good vid, Thanks

I like this part of the film because she applies the same terms to the "civilized" subjects of her study that are applied to those cultures traditionally described as primitive. For example, they are called "the tribe". Great representation of what anthropology is supposed to do, observe our differences which in understanding reveals our similarities.

Many thanks for posting this. I never heard of Malinowski before. Utterly fascinating. The best thing about Anthropology is healthy curiousity, which is a sign of intelligence. George Bush is well known to be extraordinarily incurious. God save us all. |
