Totally agree with john carney's comments: i'm 17 and had fun watching "Singin in The Rain", but outside of the dancing i dont see any artistic merit in just breaking out into song. I guess i have a bigger problem with, say, a campy Broadway musical (aren't they all) then with Gene Kelly (who is clearly a standout dancer), but i like the gist: this is real, not contrived, and his decision to go with musicians rather than mere actors contributes to that sense.

Loved the movie and video. John Carney's comment on age demographics seems misplaced. We are 72 and 76, appreciated Gene Kelly movies, and were really touched by Once. Beautiful souls are revealed by their eyes and their music. Irglova has the luminosity of a young Audrey Hepburn.

naturalistic and realistic... that's why this movie is so brilliant, unlike many other Hollywood musical movies |
