"A songwriter extraordinaire"Why do these British documentary guys always get this weird inflection in their voices when they end a sentence.? Reminds me of Eric Idle in the Rutles. LOL!!!!! What a silly bunt.

Brilliant! I am from the US, but I adore this song (and the Kinks.) Unfortunately, to say that this song "wipes the floor" with "California Dreamin'" is to totally miss the point...they are both equally brilliant, bittersweet commentaries on the cultures that created them, both born out of their songwriter's love of home. Anyway, God Bless the Kinks!!

Wonderful, hairs on the back of the neck job. Is there a more evocative song out there? For years we felt inadequate alongside the Americans with their California Dreamin' etc; This wipes the floor with them, the songs that is. Thanks Raymond. Every time I hear this song it weaves the same magical spell. When London was the centre of the Universe indeed...

One of the greatest songs ever written. The song of my youth.

The Kinks were well above most Bands of their time. This song was yet another hit, at the time. Now along with Day's, Wonder Boy etc' it remains one of the great songs of our time. |
