It's if you want to be a marine, you'll be patrolling. Doubtful they would have unexperienced sailers patrolling.

i was refering to ports in afghanistan and iraq and other dangerous places

This is in England. I don't really see that many snipers walking about the streets, preying upon seamen guarding some ships. But my best friend tim does!it's simple precaution, you have fences and guns to make sure people stay out, it's an restricted area and not open to pedestrians.

being shot in the face would not be very nice
fayik123 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
but you have to patrol in port and that is on the rn website and says you have to stand about with a gun making sure nobody attacks the ships which is a sign that things could happen. A sniper could take you out easily. THere's no such thing as a free lunch. those inflatable boats look very dangerous and you would be a sitting duck in those.

People getting shot in the face? This isn't the army, it's the navy. They don't shoot you in the face. There's the possiblity in a combat situation, but very unlikley. However, you're there to fight for Queen and Country and if the situation demanded for you to fight, then you will. But getting shot onboard...Uh, no. Ever heard of organ transplants? LOL

They're not security prisons. They're work places, they're meant to work there and perform their dutys. They have the luxeries of anything you would do at home, sport facilitys, internet, bed&breakfast. They maybe cutting costs, but who wouldn't? They want to save as much moeny as possible, otherwise YOU would pay for it in your tax.Developing new technology...hmm, What for? The navy has existed for years, it was fine then and is fine now.

this might sound crazy but is it common for people to get seriously injured in the navy? IT doesnt often get reported on mainstream media as navy stuff is kept under wraps more than the army stuff. I though about joining once becuase of how bad the employment rate is in the uk lately but i worry when i hear stories about people being shot in the face and having part of it blown away. THat is the thing that puts you being shot. you only have one set of organs. |
