This is IS the Pt not exhale out throug it he should inhale deeply and slowly.also the Pt try to hold the ball not the breath cuz' if he hold his breath the ball will falling down.The IS used after surgury and for treat and prevent atelectasis.

That is the wrong way to explain it to the pt. Pt needs to gently exhale out and take a slow deep breath, and hold it for 3 to 6 seconds. It is to prevent or reverse atelectasis.

Thumbs down for the so called RT. An IS is usually used for breathing exercise, keeping the alveoli open, and used with post-op patients. Not hard to explain unless you have no idea what you are talking about.
