I agree - if you take a look at the whole picture, visual effects shots with CGI always look just "off". Like the brain tells you it's not real, but you can't put your finger on why. When miniatures are involved, there's so much more classical craftsmanship involved, and with all visuals being on-camera and real, everything just looks "right". Maybe not 100% real, but legitimate and real in a way CGI will never be.

Blade Runner is quite simply, irrefutably, the most beautiful to look-at film ever made. It's almost impossible to think these vistas are visual trickery and MINIATURES! The sense of depth, grandeur, and colossal, grinding industry is fully realized in every city-shot. This is my favourite film of all time and that will NEVER change - one can watch the film without sound and be amazed, and likewise listen only to the sountrack and get the same effect. Masterful and never to be surpassed.

i personally think that a good movie contains good photography/graphics and an eery vibe/setting. Togther with 2001 and a few David Lynch films this is still at the top of itd gamr. Timeless

Sure CGI is great, but this movie still holds it's own pretty good considering it's 26+ years old!Everything about this movie was so far ahead of it's time. Still not sure time as actually caught up to it yet either.

There are no 'graphics' here. It's all done using models and lighting. I agree with you though. Modern movies use far too much CGI. Things which could be done with real action. |
