http://www.glowsticking.com/Th... bowtie is a string manipulation move where the strings actually hold the sticks facing towards eachother. the idea is that you are using the strings of the opposing stick to tie the other stick into being suspended.IE: you are holding your left stick, and you use the right string to hold the left stick secure.the most common way to make sure not to result in a big messy tangle of strings is to catch the string as if you were going to do a thumbsplit. if you catch the strings in a catchlink formation, it will result in a huge knot. you also have to make sure you are securing the string in the right direction, otherwise it will fall apart.HOW TO: the two easiest ways to make a bowtie are done out of a spiral and a butterfly.SPIRAL: when coming out of a spiral, right hand on top, cath the sticks with the opposing hand (left hand catches right stick, and right hand catches left stick) the hand formation will feel a little awkward. rotate your hand inwards toward your chest, the end result will look like such:the stick attached to your right hand will be in your left hand with the butt pointing at your feet.the stick attached to your left hand will be in your right hand with the but facing up. the strings should be on the outside of the sticks (farthest from your chest) the stick in your left hand will rotate into the string behind it (use your thumb to pull it back) it should look like you've wrapped the string once around the butt of the stick.do the same with the stick in your right hand; rotate the butt of the stick into the string (use your thumb to help it wrap) it will look like you made a circle around the stick. now at the same time, pull the strings tight and let go of the sticks. if performed correctly the sticks will lay down flat facing eachother with the loops you made around the sticks holding them in place.BUTTERFLY: perform a butterfly and catch the sticks. the stick that is connected to your right hand should be in your left, and the stick attached to your left hand should be in your right. also, the strings should be crossing, making an "X". point to top of the sticks downwards toward your feet until they are both pointing vertically. both strings should be on the outside of the sticks (farthest away from your chest.) The stick in your left hand will make a small clockwise circle into the string (use your thumb to help) it should look like you made a small circle around the butt of the stick with your sting. The stick in your right hand will make a small counter-clockwise circle into the string (use your thumb to help) it shouldlook like you made a small circle around the butt of the stick using your strings. at the same time, pull the strings tight and let go of the sticks. if performed correctly the sticks will lay down flat facing eachother with the loops you made around the sticks holding them in place.a good way to get out, is to simply tap the butts of the glowsticks with the palm of your hand at the same time and then pull your hands apart, they should release the sticks.this move can be used much like handles for a short period of time (the circles will loosen up and come apart after awhile) you can hole the strings in the center of the bowtie and twist your wrist to perform one hand shotguns. this can also be done with your knee, elbow, anywhere. you can also perform gumbies with the bowtie, and it won't come undone. you can perform stomach and neck traces with the bowtie. no one has really pushed the boundaries of the bowtie, so it is up to you, the people, to get creative.
