You are right, ha, ha, ha... Because this cars and the bug made Volkswagen almost bankrupt. They wouldn't exist anymore without the GolfI. This car saved the company's life...

Used to have one in practically that same colour. And the times we confused folk with the 'find the engine' were awesome :D Ours was the 1600E with Bosch injection rather than the TL which had carbs. It was pretty nippy for its time, too. In the end it just died and we never really knew why.

This was my mom's car when I was little. I once tried to make it fly by taping "wings" made of newspaper binding strips to the doors, and I liked to take naps on the big shelf behind the rear seat under the window.

He made that ad about a year or two before "The Graduate." The end of this ad got edited out: Dustin Hoffman walks away confused, and a title reads, "Your VW dealer will show you where the motor is." :-DFor the record, it was under the rear trunk. :-D
