Ska was a genre created in the 1960's in Jamaica that helped develop a movement that later became reggae. That's right, ska came before reggae. Not to mention by the time bands like Op ivy and other west coast punk groups started having ska influence, it was coming in its third wave. The second wave, called 2-tone ska was a movement in the UK led by bands like the Specials in the late 1970's. Lets not shame a great musical genre with over-generalizations.

Ska is a rhythm guitar foundation with a punk flow but the rhythm guitar is how u can relate it to reggae.
