Jaws used a Otto Link 10 star with a medium hard la Voz reed. He told me this himself when I met him at Ronnie Scotts in London. They don't make 'em like Jaws anymore.

Jaws wouldn't be seen in public playing a Yamaha :)

Someone asked what combination eddie used. I believe he usually played a Yamaha sax (at least in later years), mouthpiece almost certainly Otto Link metal, perhaps 7*

Does anybody know the "combination", Lockjaw used? That is, type of sax, mouth piece and reed number?

My my my! What a wonderful clip. The great band and the great tenorman. Wish these people were still here today.

I got to meet him in Las Vegas outside the old Hacienda Hotel between sets in the early 80's. A real cool cat. Great talent.

Brilliant Clip, thanks - I have learned a lot from Eddie's playing, his harmonic sense, confidence and unique style have been an inspiration. Fortunately got to hear him live a few times and managed to cadge an autograph of the great man. |
