Yeah, you heard wrong. I've had the opportunity to meet him several times and he's as humble and approachable a person can be. He's also quite the comedian.

I disagree,Jazz is a lot more than just scales - its thinking harmonically and melodically, trying to achieve entire phrases. Its got just as many, if not more skills to be obtained than classical playing. Also, listen to players like roy hargroves, scott tinkler, and lee morgan and tell me that jazz players 'sacrifice' sound...

Its as if this guy is knowing what hes talking about. listen to Andrea Giuffreddi on Latino music, or his FireDance song, that's trumpeting, but Marsilas, hes not the best TRumpet player in the world anymore, and you have a hard time getting over that. |
