So where is the video with the smoke that mysteriously disappeared?

Maybe the rails were in the 7's before us, but they are much lower in weight. We are actually right in saying that we are the first truck in the 7's. If we'd put that power that we're putting to the ground in the S-10 in a rail we'd be in the low sevens... maybe in the 6's. Turbopops, thanks for the excited point of view... I just need to ask you to not be so pushy with the other folks. Like I've said before, this is a place to check out what we're doing... not pick fights.

Banks is catching flack for the website saying "First into the 7's" on the main page. A couple of rails were actually "first into the 7's" followed by Banks being 3rd into the 7's and first with a "pickup bodied" drag vehicle.

Did you see the BankSpeed display at SEMA ?I think someone twisted the Dragons tail. Banks is releasing all their winning stuff from balanced engine rotating assemblys to cams and kits to high-swirl racing heads to cast racing intake manifolds and complete dyno'ed racing engines. They are going low buck to high buck...better hide your smokers. And...there's nothing low buck about a 10 second diesel truck...cracker pleeeze. EOM
performanceturbo (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yup, thats why you see all of the "low-buck" 10 second trucks running Banks stuff right?Ha ha, nope...Dont get me wrong, Banks makes good rpoducts, for street and towing trucks, but when have they released something other than intercoolers and elbows that are used on people's trucks..Money is just about everything in racing. Of course there is skill involved, but if you have both, then you're untouchable.
TurboPops (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I'll bet that in 50 years Banks has invested way more than that! But Oakley spent millions in top fuel, and never won a race? Money helps but it ain't no Silver Bullet, it takes smarts and experience as well. If you run their shit you'ed have the backing of a company as big and as "race wise" as Banks. Banks Cummins, Power Stroke and D-Max winning smoke-free for 5 years, dude, enough with the money excuse.
performanceturbo (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yup, millions and millions of dollars in R&D on your your own race car can do that. Some people dont have the backing of a company as big as Banks, so smoke is something we have to live with
TurboPops (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The Banks Sidewinder trucks have been setting records since the Sidewinder Dakota/Cummins at Bonneville in 2002. All smoke free. The youtube videos of the Sidewinder Dakota and Sidewinder GMC road racer. No way those could carry that much nitrous. The write-up on the Sidewinder drag truck states that the road race engine is currently in the drag racer, it didn't smoke, even without nitrous. All the other pro stock diesel guys also run nitrous and smoke like hell, what's up?
dmaxking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
no smoke because of nitrous.this truck now runs 7.69sec.
Andyshemi (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
the truck may be running on alcohol. it has that sound to it. |
