They should add other races to that player book, like dryads, minotaurs, orcs, centaurs, merfolk, and satyrs.

Worst part is they took out all the utility stuff. It's now a table top button masher....

FINALLY! i totally agree with you. i hate "mechanics" players. I play for the one thing video games can't deliver, a truly interactive and robust story driven experience. but i guess we don't matter any more. with each passing moment dnd is becoming more and more like WOW. i give up

The Tarrasque probably isn't a good example, since it's really high up there. At least one gets to keep shooting magic missile as a wizard instead of burning away all the spells and having to poke it with a dagger. I've played a few sessions, and there ARE drawbacks to the powers, but not ones you'd expect, at least in my experience. There is a bit of ingenuity that's encouraged in battle, although it's up to the DM as to how much you can get away with that isn't in the mechanics, of course.

For melee classes? Yes, it's more "attacking" than doing a particular thing... but you could always build a character around charging with a lance or tripping with a spiked chain or whatnot. They completely took away the idea of getting an AoO when someone aproaches you when you have a reach weapon. No more flurry of blows... no monks at all. No multiple attacks per round... I mean... we still have rangers with 2 weapon prof.... but they can only attack with one at a time... wtf?
