sometimes an artist can achive so much more,or gain deeper response by stripping back to an almost minamalist type. This can be conveyed with music as well as painting, with almost any artistic medium.Brian Eno has said more in over 30 years of recording than most people could say in a lifetime.Mondrain is not trying to fool anybody, but he is challenging us the viewer. Simplicity often achieves so much more.Mondrain was a genius.

Someone who has the initial reaction of "I don't get it, will someone please explain this to me?" will probably never "get it"... and that's ok... but to me, some of these paintings are masterpieces because they are aesthetically pleasing and evoke emotion (sadness, happiness, even anger) using an absolute minimum of complexity. With three colors and a few straight lines Mondrian created something that is pleasant to look at that conveys what he was feeling at the time. I think that's cool.

PS art is not above criticsm and should be attacked if you have a valid argument or complaint.

A bird singing doesnt address any social or political views.you dont have to look for any deep meaning and explain it you just like it for what it is, the further it is away from social or political explanations the better it is in my humble opinion.Art and politics will never go well,

I always thought mondrian was boring.Amanante its modern art and totally still. Totally square grids equals no movement. You can get a feeling of peaceful movement with wavy lines and a feeling of dramatic movement with diagonal zig zags for example, Theres more to abstract than you might think. Its not how good you are its how soon you are.

It is a religion, where "art" is sacred and above criticism.

Somebody explain me what the hell those colored squares and lines mean? I mean, every child can draw those ones... I am not being sarcastic, but why should some squares be a masterpiece?

Yeah. I suppose a piece of art loses its meaning after a few years.
