Thank you for posting,StAlphege san!Good to my ears. Talented musicians.I(man or woman)is going back to Harlan kentucky where he(or she)was born andspent early days? The 2nd and 3rd paragragh of the lyrics is difficult for me to understand. Is there anyone kindly explain the meaning and situation of this song? Do they have something to do with the coal mining?

Good luck you Saskatchewan boomers, we're the boomers in waiting with our billions of tons of Cape Breton coal lying under our feet and out under the Cabot Srait. Coal = Methane. Woo-Hoo.

can't remember his name, now, but he may've been from a Cree fiddling tradition that began with the original French contact. I heard a lot of good maritime folk musicians on Canadian radio and TV, but Mooseman, Saskatchewan was as far East as we got.

Ah yes, I guess maybe I'd heard that. Yeah I toured western Canada in the late seventies with a little band from Oregon. We started out playing Slave Lake, Alberta. A great fiddler (among other great musicians) came out of the bush and sat in with us several times during our two weeks at the huge tavern there.

I don't get the referrence to "canadiana" (sic). Harlan's in Kentucky, the state where my family named itself. The song holds an oceanic scope of tradition. I love these women; they ARE the Good Witches of the Appalachians.
