I agree with you. I say this without any modesty or ego - I can't objectively say I 'understand' music, though though I agree Radiohead is amongst creatively gutsiest bands, not just rock bands. Any way how exactly does one define rock music? They are a genre bending band and qualify as a rock band based on their 1st 3 albums. Also, as they have progressed from Kid A to Rainbows they are going back towards harmony (leaving dissonance and chaos behind them) or so it seems.

Pretty much yes. It's really funny because the TV says "avec un coup de pied dans le cul" which means litterally "with a kick in the ass"

What I really love about this song in addition to many other radiohead songs is that to really appreciate it you need a true understanding of music, not simply rock. Many people that claim to know a lot about music show their ignorance when they attempt to comment validly on radiohead, saying things like "trumpets have no place in this song" and "what's with the grunting?" If they understood the concepts of dissonance and ambience they wouldn't be asking.

wow. thats what I call data; now that you´ve said it, the riff sounds in a way like something you´d play at 16
