Who's sammy?I've done plenty of research, the FJ holds 4x4 records like no other. Jeeps can't go above about 12K in altitude, FJ's go up to 18K, they're the only vehicle (besides motorbikes) that can make it to Everest Base Camp, I know, I've been twice. The FJC and its cousins the Hilux and Prado are the only vehicles capable of driving to the North Pole via Greenland and Canada, Jeeps can't even come close. When's the last time a Jeep won anything at Baja or the Taupo 1000?

No it doesn't, those estimates are way off. They're also during 4x4 operation and with the roof rack installed which creates a huge amount of drag. When mine was stock I was getting 22 city/26 highway. I just drove to Toroweap and Zion National park for a week of camping and climbing. On the way there I averaged 32.2 mpg, returning I made 28.1 mpg, so you're wrong again. And no, 2500 miles on a tank isn't impossible, I have a 70 gallon tank, plus 2 5 gal blitz cans... do the math.

That's why you buy a Land Cruiser, they can do this in rain, snow, anything. They go places that no other vehicle can reach and other people are too scared to venture. Land Cruisers are the only vehicles that can drive to the North Pole via Greenland and Canada; they're the only vehicle capable of reaching Everest Base camp at 17,600 ft. Modded Jeeps flip all the time on this route in dry weather; but that's a novice female wheeler in a stock FJ sending the Gate after a rain...respect.

You can still buy one if you really want one and have it imported. The Hilux is called the Tacoma in the US and it's a truck version of the FJ Cruiser with scaled down off road capabilities. The Prado is just a more luxurious/less off-road capable version of the FJ Cruiser albeit still is an extremely good 4x4 is its own right. When ignorant people rip on the FJC, they're saying that the Prado and Hilux (both also legendary in their own right) are crap.Meanwhile Chrysler (Jeep) is bankrupt.
For those considering buying a new vehicle, don't forget to check out the new 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Great for adventures off road, just for cruising around town, or running to the store.

The new 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser seats five and comes in two-tone with a Voodoo Blue, Titanium Metallic, Black Diamond, Sun Fusion, Sandstorm or Brick body color and White top. The interior fabric color is Dark Charcoal, while the dash, center instrument panel trim and the door inserts match the body.
