That's BS. Why should anyone have to learn low level coding to write simple games? IT's crap liking having to learn OpenGL coding with C++ that stop loads of people getting into development in the first place. C# is excellent for writing office applications and useful utilities without having to worry about having to have a college degree to write in it.

You just sound pissed that there are higher level languages available. I'm sorry but that's how things are. I don't get pissed at American drivers for driving automatics when I took the time to leanr how to drive manual. Anyway, why the hell should you have to learn low level directx coding to just make a simple match 3 game? That's why these types of things exist. You're never going to get the next killer game engine written in XNA, that's what you guys are for.

Dragonskean, i agree. the unreal runtime is amazing and easy to use, and each language will compliment eachother

It's a little thing called Rapid Development. Keep in mind that ANYTHING in C# can be INHERITED, and OVERWRITTEN. Take your C++ sh*t and port it over to XNA, and enhance it however you like, with your theory, calculus, algerbra, compiler design, WHATEVER.

IQ 138, just gifted, not a genius.

The need for Calculus was why I couldn't get into a game design college. That is BS you don't need it to be a game DESIGNER. I knew it and 4 years after I entered college for my BA in Video Production my prediction came true with every HS and Jr. College offering a Game Design program. To late for me now, stuck with a BA in Video Prod. as a fall back since I couldn't get into Digipen. I could program in C, C++ and Turbo Pascal as of Soph. HS, but it wasn't enough without Calc. Elitist F***.

Tru using the unreal runtime that program is awesome i actually have both runtime and XNA runtime will help me design

Very nice tut!

I'm sure that C# and XNA is a great time saver for people who already know all that stuff, but you need to start with the fundamentals.

This is nothing against you, but I think it's utter bullshit that these products exist. They give you a warped sense of what game development is really like. I had to work my ass of to broaden my skills. XNA just does everything for you, and you don't need to worry about the logic, which is the most important part f game development. |
