This song is about midlife crisis, and the decisions we make, the regrets we have. Water flowing underground, time passing unseen, unknown. It has nothing to do with other cultures. It has to do with regret. Where does that highway (path, choice) goto? Am i right or am i wrong? My god, what have I done? Wasting your life away.

The point of the video is to see the strange things (dances) that other cultures thinks are perfectly normal. Then listen to the song. The song names some parts of our culture (beautiful houses etc.) that other cultures find bizarre. Byrne is trying to get you think about how you live. "How did I get here?" And to see that you have become a part of one of the cultures in the video "My God, what have i done?"you were right, the Heads are more genius than you thought

The Heads are geniuses, all of them. Between this video and the performance of this song in Stop Making Sense I am convinced Byrne is insane. But insane in a good way. He's one of hell of a dancer to boot.

if you watch all of the other TH videos they are the best videos too. I think they probably put out the best videos not to mention music. along with like tears for fears.

maybe im looking into it too much but byrne is coming off a little egocentric maybe... where is the rest of the group? with that aside this is one of the best music videos ever made.
