If your serious about this, go with a 5 ton axel. Of course you will have to get it cut down. Since everything is going to be custom I would start there. I have a 5 ton axel out of a freight liner

I want to build a truck to mud and cruise. Are any GM axles out of a 1 ton strong enough to last with 44's. I know on 1/2 ton axles, you can't really turn tires much bigger than a 35". Will 1 ton axles work for 44"?
