2003 was a wicked nasty year for doping, it was truly out of control completely. Francisco Casagrande went from 100th ranked U23 rider a few yrs earlier to super alien dominating cow blood boy hamilton in the mountains of Romandie...

Pharmstrong dehydrated and had the flue, therefore had to keep his heamotocrit level down for a few days using no transfusions slowing him down massively.Or else he took a drug like Oxyglobin or heamopure and got sick like Jesus Manzano did that same week.

ullrich was better cause he was anti-biotika and then you cant ride hard. he was on that the first mountain stages and lost 3-4 minutes and ended a minute behind after winning time trial and he tok also time in the mountains

Armstrong won by a minute. How was Ullrich better? Do remember, Lance lost 1.30 in the time trial, if Ullrich was better, he'd have capitalised on that in the mountains. The fact is, Lance was always a better climber than Ullrich. When Lance had a bad day in the mountains he lost seconds. When Ullrich had a bad day in the mountains, he lost minutes.

maybe you didn't wath the tour in 2003???? armstrong lost 1:30 in the time trial und the day later another 15 seconds. on the tourmalet armstrong was in difficulties, too. in 2003 ullrich was better than armstrong but ullrich was ill in the alps
ghostzapper2006 (July 24, 2008 at 6:27 am)
Ullrich would have won if he did not crash???? LMFAO, yeah and pigs can fly too. Armstrong was a better time trialer and climber than Ullrich. he could beat jan in the climbs and the ITTS. He was better than Ullrich and their head to head TDF races prove that. how many times did Jan beat lance????? None!

If Ullrich hadnt have waited on Luz- Ardiden, he would have lost no time but gained nothing either. I think Armstrong would have caught him at the top after losing a good 30 seconds in the crash. Even so, Armstrong had 15 seconds at this point still. Ullrich was only in the single digits ahead before his crash on stage 19. Giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming the TT is dry, and a lead of 9 seconds per 40k, he would have gained 12 seconds by the finish in Nante. |
