Well, as you said we do not know (in theory) that they are not stealing others' bikes, and the people around did not know either. A thief can do exactly the same thing.

yeah, but real thieves use such methods too. in germany there were two thieves who walked into a university lecture hall DURING A LECTURE, said that they needed to replace the video projectors and "forgot" to put the replacements in...

When I first read this, I thought it was going to be something to the effect of someone locking up a bike thief's bike and watching him try to break his own bike loose. I think that would have been funnier. It truly is kinda sad that nobody even gives the guy a second glance. Bike thieves need to torch.

You don't get stopped because your trying too hard and its looks so obvious with crazy tools and such.. Secondly your don't look like your in any sort of worry or rush while your doing it. Lastly your white (you fill in how that relates to the scenario).Have someone you know that isnt white do it at the same spots and tell them to "act like a real thief" and you'll get results.

wait...how is this a "reverse sting operation"? are you catching the cops?
moush (July 22, 2008 at 6:36 am)
Maybe people believed it was your bike and you just lost your key. Also what proof do you have that it's your bike? How do we know it's not you and a friend taping yourself stealing other people's bikes?
