It is kind of hard to imagine but nikyo is quite a painful technique. It has, as a matter of fact very little to do with force; An 8 year old can apply it on a 21 year old. It's pretty hard to explain, the best way to learn is to experience it yourself.

you WILL break his arm if his elbow is locked, make sure that the elbow is unlocked if you want to simply bring someone to the ground.
