...that's the great thing about excellent lyricists. They're writing can be applied to anything. But to say their lyrical messages are the same throughout all their albums is something I just don't see at all. I've grown with this band. Am now acquainted with the group after twenty something shows thanks to my jiu jitsu connection with MJK's head of security (Thanks Todd) Maybe I'm biased. lol But I think the lyrical expression from album to album has evolved greatly each time. Just my $.02

...in search of understanding and an acceptance of the problem. I haven't absorbed Lateralus and 10,000 days fully, but the message has evolved into transcending and inner growth. I think these albums are ones you grow with. I'm 33 and have listened to Tool since I was 17 and avidly since I was 23. I'm still stuck between Aenema and Undertow and touch on their newer work, but I still have too many issues to identify fully with the new stuff, though I understand what the message is...

?? The lyrical messages and connotations are completely different from album to album. Undertow focuses on the struggle and anger that comes from it. There's no real solution offered within the problem. I listen and enjoy internalizing the meaning of the lyrics in perspective to my life and the things I feel anger towards. I think that's the purpose of the album. Aenema touches more on the effects of what we're angry about and searches for solutions though the message is anger...cont >

Agree with that definitely. I first started listening with the album '10,000 Days' and since I've gone to their other albums cause I thought they were great and they've (in my opinion) definitely changed from album to album. Still good stuff, too =).

P.s Most bands and Artists try to stick to their original style for its comfort and originality, i mean look at pink floyd,, cant say they spun a 180 between any of their albums,, its mostly all acid rock with the most amazing compositions ever (after tool :P) but i understand your point and if you beg to differ with anything i say==== "To Each His Own" :)

if maynard heard you say that he would personally slay you :P everyone of these guys changes their style from album to album, its just progressive cause no one can change their style of playing to something completely different so quickly. try listening to their first album or single 'hush' and then their lastest single lie 'rosetta stoned' or 'jambi',, i hope that changes your opinion.

No you probably just don't understand the difference. It's pretty clear that each album is different from one another.

You know what? I really don't care if they sound the same after such a long time, because her sound is the most awesome i have ever heard. I love it |
