i bet dave lombardo has 1000 times more fun drumming for this band than he does sayer...eurgh it makes me shudder just saying that word. its like theyve taken the best bit out of slayer and just chucked it into something worth listening to. well done mike!

I see what you're getting at and I do agree. Still, I find this difficult music to appreciate fully, my mind isn't tuned to cope with this stuff (yet).

the "edge of what can be called 'music'" has been explored extensively by modern composers. this music is very honest and expressive and listenable compared to the shit coming out of John Cage's ass. while mike patton is definitely to do something new and explore like many modern composers, he's really only trying to keep it interesting for himself (whereas many modern composers are definitely trying too hard to be crazy geniuses).

remember to keep in mind that what patton was trying to portray with this music is raw emotion. he's basically wanting you to feel the emotion he is trying to give off in his very interesting take of music.

Ah well, actually, I do like it you know, but it's no simple stuff this.

I love how he's really original and unforgiving, but I find it a lot to gimmicky for my tastes. He's really looking for the edge of what can be called 'music' here.
