Thanks for posting this! I've been looking for it for ages. I WAS an art student in San Francisco when this aired (I think it aired in 1981). But I went to a different, more "commercial" art school, and have regretted it ever since. I should have listened to Father Guido. This is my favorite commercial of all time.

I lived in San Francisco briefly in 1982, and when this commercial appeared on the air, it was a repeatable, one-minute vacation. One of the best-written pieces of comedy ever.

ok so i am an art teacher i did not see 5:30 on the scale nor did i see when the artist go to sleep.... my husband is an artist and yes he may sleep till 7,8, or even noon but he did n't go to sleep for 3 days inorder to finish a deadline and he only gets 50% of the sale of the art it's the art dealer that sleeps trust me the real artist is the one making the expresso the rest of us are busy making life
