i have potassium in capsule form, the supplement form that you take by mouth, How come potassium can be in metal and also powder form, yeah i know nothing of science so..

You really don't want to deal with potassium, stuff is a pain to make, but you can make sodium fairly easily with lye, sodium reacts with water nicely too. Research it a bit, lye is Sodium Hydroxide, the process you'll want to look at is called the Castner Process.
