The original DVDs are expensive. But Bandai released a "Anime Classic" version of Escaflowne which includes all of the episodes on DVD for around 30.00. They have them at most Best Buys.

I wished that Hitomi and Van could have stayed with each other physically (either on earth or van's world) instead of that "I'll be watching you and maybe one day we'll be together"-style ending. They love each other right? The movie ended better but they made Hitomi all emo and Van all angry.
