Joy Division is one of the Greatest Band os all time, and influenced many of the big bands of nowdays. They are genius!I simply worship the Band! All they're musica have something touching and are very musical.

From what I have been told, the reason why Ian danced the way he did was that it was an almost defiant mocking of his own spastic movements from the epilepsy he suffered. Sometimes, those epileptic seizures that he suffered, he suffered on stage while performing. That's sad.

I agree that this music reflects the atmosphere of the UK at the time. With high unemployment, the sewage crisis of Manchester and the whole of UK being in a welfare state. As a result, this era of music is a strong reflection of the darkness of the time.

Probably one of the most focused, intense and 'real' performances by any band, anywhere, ever. |
