A nice point. How are you planning on firing this cannon? I would recommend looking into a burst disk system for any store bought sprinkler valve (up to 1") will majorly restrict flow, and any sprinkler valves larger will be expensive and not as good as other techniques. A burst disk will work best for a large cannon like you descibed.

that valve is only good for 150psi be careful and have fun! i got over the spud gun, now im building a canon out of 8ft of 4" steel and i found a 12" steel chamber gonna remote operate it

It is for teh lulz. But seriously, this is just something for recreation and entertainment purposes. Some people just like to shoot things, and a spud gun gives many people the means to do so cheaply and creatively. Plus, it gives the shooter a sense of satisfaction to know he was able to build what he is firing. As far as this device goes, sometimes it is just more satisfying to build something a bit more complex and better than other spud cannons.

What use would such a contraption have? Cant hunt with it, cant protect your home with it. I sincerely pray its not for attacking folks. Be careful or you might poke someones eye out.
