I am sorry but in a way I have to agree with this fellow - I love Newk's old stuff, I mean the 50's, but when I look at him in this video, I just see a man who throws himself from side to side and his musical ideas are not a single bit "fresher" than the ones that he had in the past. And I think he definitely lost that fire he had.I know he is old, but I just don't like the way he keeps on going just because he is the famous Sonny Rollins.I like him in the past. I dislike him in the present.

If we're talking solely about technical ability, then I would agree with you that Brecker took insane harmonic ideas and branched them out to the limits on saxophone and on EWI, however Sonny is an original jazz giant that will never be overruled. And in my opinion, Chris Potter got his hands on that 'crown' before Brecker passed. If you haven't already, check out a bootleg copy of Potter playing All The Things You Are for a master class unaccompanied......you'll see what I mean ;)

I agree with Jour0n, Brecker was definitely King. Rollins might have been the first to experiment with it, but Brecker nailed it.

i don't exactly what your time is,but I think Brecker has the crown, and he took it in his graveBut Rollins is also a a great musician
