In 1998 total Venezuelan debt added up to some $30 billion, divided as follows: $21 billion external debt, $2 billion domestic debt and $7 billion owed by PDVSA, the State petroleum company. Only five years later the national debt is of the order of $50 billion, divided as follows: $23 billion external debt, $17 billion domestic debt and $10 billion owed by PDVSA. What is worse, the Chávez regime is now trying to borrow another $10 billion on the head of PDVSA.

Amigos todos sabemos que Venezuela es hermosa, pero tenemos que afrontar la realidad, Venezuela esta cada dia peor. El gobierno ayuda solo a quien lo apoya; y estoy hablando sea de la derecha como de la izquierda. Lo unico que podemos hacer como jovenes venezolanos es prepararnos moral y culturalmente y seguir trabajando por la Venezuela que queremos. Una pregunta a todos los que critican y se quejan de Venezuela: Habeis hecho algo por ayudarla?

So what, you're waiting for superman to fly in and fix everything? Basic healthcare and paying off the national debt with local resources - I'd say those are worthy achievements. Then again everything looking pretty is soooooo important too.
