Funny you should mention that... "Move It" was originally intended by the record company for the A-side, but the DJ's and their listening public thought otherwise. If you have it, I think it's worth posting.

I've always felt the Chantays influenced the Ventures with Pipeline. The Ventures really started "double picking" after Pipeline was released. Yeah, "Walk Don't Run" definitely shows some Pipeline influence. Both groups were absolutely fantastic-who can forget "Slaughter on 5th Avenue?"

Yep Geat Sound - in the UK the flip was "Move It" which was an instrumental in totally different style (a bit Louie Louie)and almost as good as the A-side - worth posting that as well ?

The opening of the Ventures "Walk Don't Run '64" which is a 1964 recording of their 1960 "Walk Don't Run" is very similar to this.

Well....I just did my own research, and it IS the original! Ill be damned! Ya Know, as long as I have been alive, I thought the Ventures' version was the original. Y'Learn something new every day. Anthrax did a cool cover as well. |
